Five-Year Strategic Plan Identifies Latest IT Trends
Challenged by a 50 percent expansion of physical facilities by 2005, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center is relying on a five-year strategic plan to guide it through the multiple information technology decisions it will have to make to meet future FM needs.

Adding Value to Employees Adds Value to Company
By doing for itself what the company does for clients--putting major functions online and in the hands of the users--Cisco Systems' Workplace Resources group has boosted overall corporate productivity to an all-time high in just three years. The strategy makes sense for a company whose products support 80 percent of the world's Internet traffic, and which executes 85 to 90 percent of its business-to-business transactions electronically.

Gives Cisco Direction to Refine New Systems
Built into Cisco Systems' reconfiguration of its Workplace Resources group (WPR) was a Capability Maturity Study to explore how well the new online systems were working after the first three years. The study was completed in May 2000 by KPMG using the Capability Maturity Model from the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University as a guideline to develop its own assessment methodology.
