The design converts separate small labs to larger open labs and provides more common space for casual interaction. Open offices are provided to allow for changing work group configurations.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) The EPA's newest facility, the New England Regional Laboratory (NERL) in North Chelmsford, Mass., is a testament to the agency's commitment to "walk the talk" in achieving a high level of environmental performance in all its daily operations. The $22.2-million, 69,000-sf building is anticipating the U.S. Building Council's LEED (TM) Gold rating and has received the 2001 Excellence in Construction Award from the Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.
