Since the Council unveiled its first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design award three years ago it has rapidly become the industry standard for benchmarking newly constructed and remodeled buildings. This spring, after extensive member input and a year-long pilot program, the Council will roll out LEED-EB, a tool for measuring the greenness of ongoing facility operations in existing buildings. Traditional questions like how many work orders a particular business unit generates have been replaced by more complex inquiries: How much business is being done with an individual vendor? What kinds of discounts are available? Is this the type of repair the landlord should pay for?
