Johnson Controls broke ground in December 1999 on a new six-building manufacturing campus on 64 acres at the Parque Industrial Colonial in Reynosa. San Antonio-based 3D/International will design and manage construction of the fast-track project, with the first phase--an 180,000-sf facility--scheduled for completion by mid-June 2000.

Construction of phase two will result in three buildings ranging from 150,000 sf to 180,000 sf. Phase three will include one or two more buildings. The anticipated completion for the entire project--encompassing approximately 1 million sf--is 2003.

Architect on the project was C.A.S. Architects Inc. based in Mountain View, Calif. The Milpitas, Calif., firm of Devcon Construction Inc. built the facility. Canon is based in Lake Success, NY.

The company is a leading supplier of consumer gardening products.
