Purpose of position: To manage multiple projects simultaneously to successful completion. Under general direction of a Manager, provide professional project management in the planning, budgeting, scheduling, programming, design and construction of existing and new university facilities up to 10 million dollars per project.

Required qualifications: Project management experience with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Two years increasingly responsible experience in the management of renovation and/or new construction projects. Knowledge of building codes including National Fire Protection Association-NFPA and International Building Code-IBC. Experience in the preparation and delivery of presentations, proposals, and estimates. Effective communication experience with upper management, clients, project team members, and construction personnel. Computer experience with spreadsheet, word processing, and scheduling software. An understanding of construction specifications and sustainable design and construction processes. Current Class "C" Operator's Driver's License required. Prior to date of hire, applicant selected must provide a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) showing a driving history going back 36 months. This includes all states resided in for the past 36 months. MVR will be evaluated to determine eligibility to drive a University-owned vehicle. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.  Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering. Engineer In Training, EIT, and able to obtain licensure in the State of Texas within 2 years of taking position. NICET certification in fire alarm systems, automatic sprinkler system layout, and-or special hazard suppression systems. More than two years increasingly responsible experience in the management of renovation and/or new construction projects. Five years of experience in the design, installation, or commissioning of fire and life safety projects. Project Management Professional-PMP certification and credentialed as a LEED-AP would be desirable.


The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
