Senior Project Manager (Architect/Engineer)

Purpose of position: As Senior Project Manager, supervise a team of project managers who focus primarily on laboratory and technical project delivery, and provide professional project management in the planning, budgeting, scheduling, programming, design and construction of existing and new university facilities up to 10 million dollars.
Required qualifications: Project management experience with a bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Interior Design, or Construction Science. Five years increasingly responsible experience in the management of institutional renovation and new construction projects for owner-clients. Knowledge of building codes including, National Fire Protection Association 101 - NFPA, International Building Code - IBC, Texas Accessibility Standards - TAS, and the Americans with Disabilities Act - ADA. Experience in the preparation and delivery of presentations, proposals, and estimates. Demonstrated ability and experience in effective communication with upper management, clients, project team members, and construction personnel. Documented experience and ability in managing projects with minimal supervision and a clear understanding of construction specifications. Demonstrated ability and experience in coordinating with project stakeholders. Demonstrated basic computer experience in spreadsheet, word processing, and scheduling software. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred qualifications: Project management experience with more than ten years increasingly responsible experience in the management of institutional renovation and new construction projects for owner-clients. Licensed interior designer or architect or engineer registered in the State of Texas, registration in another state and eligible for reciprocity with the State of Texas, or able to obtain registration within 1 year of employment. Project Management Professional Certification - PMP. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP or commitment to obtain accreditation within 1 year of employment. Additional experience in the management of technical and laboratory design and construction projects in an institutional setting. Documented knowledge and experience in institutional construction projects, including laboratories, technical mechanical systems, complex systems, and other university facilities.
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
