The University of Texas at Austin is seeking an experienced Architect-Project Manager to provide professional management in the planning, budgeting, scheduling, programming, design and construction of existing University facilities, up to 10 million dollars per project.
The hire will manage projects from inception to completion; estimate costs and completion time, design, request and monitor funding, produce bid documents, supervise consultants, administer the technical portion of the bid phase, and oversee construction activity. This hire will also provide engineering design that supports the mission of the University, using sound engineering practices. In addition, the hire will manage outside professional service providers by providing information about the existing infrastructure and reviewing their design solutions in accordance with the published design and construction standards.
The position candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline. Three to five years of experience providing project management of design or construction activities for renovations and new construction of institutional or commercial facilities, including preparing scope, budgets project estimates, and schedules for planning, design and construction and experience developing requests for proposal and selection of design and construction teams. Working knowledge of contract documents plans and specifications. Experience obtaining construction bids and negotiating construction contracts. Working knowledge of life safety and building codes including NFPA 101, IBC, Texas Accessibility Standards, and the Americans with Disabilities Act, among others. Experience using Excel, Microsoft Word, and MS Project. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer. Personal computer experience and demonstrated excellent communication skills.
Applicants must be licensed by Texas State Board of Registration as a Professional Architect or Engineer or eligible for licensure and obtain a license within one year of employment. Class "C" Operator's Driver's License. Applicant selected must provide a current three year Driving Record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Candidate must be able to work as a full-time employee for any employer in the United States. This position is security sensitive. Hiring decision is contingent upon applicant clearing a background check. Additional work hours may be required during peak periods.
