The Office of Facilities Planning and Management within the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa is seeking to hire either a Project Manager/Space Planner (PWA3) OR a Senior Project Manager/Space Planner (PWA4). This individual will be a key member of the Carver College of Medicine Facilities Planning and Management team tasked with managing the facilities activities of the college.
Working with the CCoM Director of Facilities, Planning and Management, this position will manage the intake process for all facility improvement/construction requests, meet with the end-user to establish the project goals and develop the project scope, work with senior leadership to identify facility options in the context of the college’s strategic plan and within the fiscal constraints of the collegiate business unit.
Once the project has been defined, and there is stakeholder buy-in, the PM/SP will initiate the project implementation process with the UI Facilities Management team and provide the internal collegiate oversight to ensure that the project proceeds according to the established goals, and that it is delivered on time and on budget.
The PM/SP will be responsible for the annual space survey and associated assignment & utilization reports/maps for the college’s space (~ 900,000 nasf). This is a necessary tool to help with space assignment and relocation planning. This work is currently manual and the UI Finance Office in collaboration with the UI FM Planning office is developing a system that will support this activity. The PM/SP will be one of the key UI team members to aid in the development/user interface for this system.
This position will have a wide range of interactions across the college. It will be important to understand and manage the various stakeholder interactions to develop a win/win whenever possible and when not possible, manage the relationship to a positive outcome.
