Children’s National Health System, based in Washington, DC, has been serving the nation’s children since 1870 and is ranked in the top 5 pediatric hospitals in 2018 by U.S. News & World Report. In 2020, Children’s National will open a one-of-a- kind pediatric research and innovation campus that will co-locate Children’s Research Institute with key strategic partners including JLabs @ Washington DC on nearly 12 acres of the former Walter Reed Army Medical Center campus in northwest Washington, DC.
Reporting to the Children’s National Research and Innovation Campus Project Director, the Real Estate Development Project Manager plans, schedules and manages assigned real estate development projects to achieve organizational objectives within defined timeframe, scope and budget. For new and renovation building projects valued at $15M - $125M, responsible for developing projects’ feasibility and business case analyses, schedules, communication and risk management plans, workflow process redesigns, metric development and measurement, and return on investment analyses. Works closely with all impacted stakeholders including hospital and Children's Research Institute leadership, clinical and non-clinical users, and support services (including facilities, information technology, environmental services, security, supply chain, audio/visual services, and parking) to determine programming, approve architectural plans, manage change orders during construction, perform transition and move planning, and identify lessons learned. Position is also responsible for presenting to and managing relationships with external entities such as the Advisory Neighborhood Commissions and the DC regulatory authorities. Assigns project tasks to designated team members and manages project staff, as assigned. Identifies and escalates issues as appropriate. Uses project management tools and standards as outlined by the Project Management Institute to ensure the real estate development projects stay on track to complete deliverables. Ensures real estate development projects are appropriately integrated with the hospital system's facility master plan and other Children's National Medical Center initiatives.
Project Management Institute (PMI) certification preferred
Five years of real estate development, space planning and facility management, project management, or other related experience required. Substantive involvement in at least one complex commercial or mixed-use development project strongly preferred.
