Department Summary
Finance and Administration Shared Services (FASS) provides service specific to four business functions-- budget and finance, accounting and purchasing, human resources, and information technology—to several departments within the Finance and Administration portfolio. Finance and Administration is a vibrant and varied portfolio serving all aspects of campus life. Our employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the university’s many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping campus safe, clean, accessible and beautiful.

FASS-supported units include:
• Campus Planning and Facilities Management: Campus Planning, Design and Construction, Facilities Services, Utilities and Energy, and the Office of Sustainability
• Safety and Risk Services: UO Police Department, Emergency Management and Fire Prevention, Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety, and Campus GIS
• Campus Services: Transportation Services, Printing Services, Vivian Olum Child Development Center, and FASS
Altogether, the units supported by FASS consist of more than 500 employees and a have budgets totaling more than $60 million.

The mission of the FASS Budget and Finance group is to provide accurate and timely financial support services, enhancing our clients’ strategic priorities. This client-focused partnership consists of prudent financial guidance and management of fiscal resources. Our aim is to provide a framework that improves communication and information flow, with previously decentralized units. The vision is to develop a service organization that competes with the best in conveying expertise, efficiency, and service quality while creating a conduit for centralized policies and procedures to be quickly and appropriately disseminated to various departments.

Position Summary
This position, a team member of the FASS finance and budget division, is responsible for affecting the fiscal integrity of the department by providing essential financial and accounting functions. While serving business partners with the utmost customer service, this position will focus heavily on the reconciliation aspect of accounting while providing support to other operations including the disbursement audit function, professing financial transactions, and providing various financial information. Additionally, this position will support the FASS Fiscal Managers in analyzing and distributing monthly reports to unit manager and supervisors while utilizing University reporting tools such as Cognos, Banner and the reporting features of the University’s Enterprise Asset Management System. Additional duties include support for annual budget development processes and date collection.

Interactions/contacts occur daily with internal FASS colleagues to assist in general financial activities, occasionally with service departments to answer general process questions, and with centralized departments on occasion to ensure compliance.

This position works as a member of a team while frequently performing tasks independently. Decision may be made about the best mothed and materials necessary to perform a particular tasks. They may also include stetting priorities, assessing customer needs and responding to those needs.

Work is reviewed regularly by the direct supervisor to ensure it is performed efficiently, safely, and meets both expectations and applicable requirements. A performance evaluation is conducted annually.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree with CPA or PA certificate; OR
• Bachelor’s degree with 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of college-level Accounting; OR
• 30 quarter (20 semester) hours of Accounting courses and three years of Accounting experience.*

*Accounting experience must include at least 3 of the following:
o Preparing transactions to be recorded in records of original entry;
o Preparing journal entries, posting from journals to general ledger, or preparing original general ledger entries;
o Summarizing data from a ledger to a trial balance;
o Closing accounts at the end of an accounting period;
o Applying spreadsheet, database, and word processing software;
o Processing data using a computer.

Preferred Qualifications
• One-year experience with funding accounting in an educational or public environment.
• AiM or other CMMS/EAMS experience.
