Job Overview:
As part of the Real Estate Business Intelligence unit, the Associate Director of Space Analytics leads a small team of space analysts and building auditors and is responsible for the strategic planning, data management, and analytics for physical space and campus space management systems. This position works in close coordination with the Associate Vice Chancellors for Campus Planning, Real Estate Services, and Campus Design and Construction to ensure space and lease portfolio management meets the desired objectives for each unit. The Director coordinates space utilization reporting to the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) and serves as a contact point for UCOP and other UC campuses.

Working closely with the Real Estate leadership team the Director will maintain, support, and improve the space management system and overarching IWMS/CAFM program and roadmap for space management. To support the collection of space data, this position works closely with space coordinators and strategists from across the campus to conduct and complete regular updates and annual space surveys. The Director will also support multiple space committees and the Chancellor’s direct reports by providing reporting and decision-support analytics to inform space allocation and assignments and supports the identification of space needs to inform the development, acquisition, and disposal of space. This position establishes objectives and work plans, receives assignments in the form of objectives, and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Reviews and approves recommendations for functional programs. Responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing resources. Involved in developing, modifying and executing unit policies that impact immediate operation(s) and may also impact campus, medical center or Office of the President. Has responsibility for Space Analytics budgets, costs, methods, and personnel-related actions. Provides support and guidance to subordinates to achieve goals and professional development in accordance with established policies. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals result in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedule.
