Department Summary
Safety and Risk Services’ (SRS) mission is to collaborate with all campus constituents (students, staff, faculty, and visitors) and the surrounding community, to safeguard life and health and mitigate threats to the university’s core mission of academic excellence, research, and public service. Safety and Risk Services comprises Emergency Management and Continuity, Environmental Health and Safety, Campus Mapping, Risk Management & Insurance, and the University of Oregon Police Department. SRS fulfills its mission by providing a variety of professional services, technical assistance, training, and regulatory oversight. The total Safety and Risk Services portfolio includes around 125 employees and a current annual operating budget of approximately $15 million.

Safety and Risk Services also supports, and the Chief Resilience Officer (CRO) leads, the University’s strategic Enterprise Risk Management and Organizational Resilience Framework to cultivate leadership, staff engagement, effective partnerships, situational awareness, innovation, and proactive problem solving to create a more resilient and agile university.

Position Summary
The Clery Compliance Officer (CCO) serves as the designated Clery Coordinator for the University and is responsible for working collaboratively with various units and departments within the UO to ensure compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) and associated regulations and policies. The CCO is responsible for updating and distributing the annual security and fire safety report (ASFSR); reporting crime statistics to the Department of Education via the annual Campus Safety and Security Survey; and designating and training the institution’s Campus Security Authorities (CSAs).

In addition to the Clery Act responsibilities, the CCO serves on the Behavioral Evaluation and Threat Assessment (BETA) Team as the case management lead ensuring accurate and timely documentation of the cases processed and monitored by the BETA Team. The CCO is also part of the UO’s Office of the Chief Resilience Officer, serving as the lead for the use of the UO emergency notification system for timely warnings and is a member of the UO Incident Management Team. The CCO is also a member of the SRS duty administrator on-call rotation.

The position reports to the Director of Risk Management and Insurance within Safety & Risk Services.


Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Three years of demonstrated success in a position with a focus on compliance programs and/or project or program management in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with compliance programs in a higher education setting.
• Advanced Clery Act training or other relevant training and/or certification that evidences experience, qualifications, and competency with Clery Act compliance.
• Experience using case management software such as Maxient.
• Threat assessment experience in a higher education setting.
• Experience with risk/threat assessment tools (e.g., WAVR 21, NABITA, etc.)
• Completed Clery Compliance Certification Course with Delores Stafford & Associates.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
