Information Services (IS) is the central information technology unit at the University of Oregon and provides wide-ranging services to campus. Information Services consists of four major functional areas: Customer Experience, which serves as the key contact point for interactions with campus clients and customers; Applications & Middleware, which manages and supports applications, integration services, identity management and data management; Information Security, which helps protect virtual or physical information; and Technology Infrastructure, which provides administration and support for the software, hardware, and services needed to support the campus IT environment. Information Services also includes the Advanced Network Technology Center. IS works closely with the Network for Education and Research in Oregon.

Reporting to the Director of Identity and Directory Services, the Microsoft Active Directory Administrator will be responsible for providing leadership, training and administration of the campus-wide Active Directory environment and daily Active Directory Administration duties as a member of the Identity and Directory Services team. The primary responsibility of the Microsoft Active Directory Administrator will be to architect, implement and support large, complex enterprise software systems. This requires the use of in-depth and comprehensive knowledge in the technologies required to support these systems while also developing and leveraging best practices. This includes development and institution of Enterprise-wide group policies, campus Active Directory consolidation, integration with identity management products, and domain operation troubleshooting.
This position will also participate in general Directory administration supporting the Information Services Windows Server platforms. Duties include common Systems Administration duties such as installing, configuring, and updating software as well as developing and testing consistently repeatable procedures. This position will participation in selecting/procuring software solutions, implementation of software system solutions, performing/scheduling/managing maintenance and upgrades, performing system management operations including, but not limited to, configuration, tuning, solution resource management, etc. and providing solution domain knowledge expertise to others as required.
The scope of this position covers the broad range of technical expertise required to develop, administer and maintain University Enterprise application systems including maintenance, migrations and integrations involving new and existing systems. As well as designing, directing and implementing systems automation strategies, systems and application monitoring and troubleshooting and systems performance and security analysis.
This position is also responsible for managing and coordinating major projects for enterprise application installations, upgrades and deployments. This will include designing systems and planning strategies to support integrations, developing maintenance plans for large application systems, providing direction to team members to help support large application systems in specialty areas, and leading team efforts in projects involving enterprise system application installations, upgrades, maintenance and migrations for specialty areas. This position may also design and code software applications and scripts to support systems integration, configuration, and management.

This position may provide essential services during times of emergencies and inclement weather. This position may be required to fulfill essential services and functions during these times.
The incumbent will be part of an on-call rotation and may be expected to work after hours and/or weekends.
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.

• Five years’ experience working with scripting languages (such as PowerShell, etc).
• Two years’ experience working with windows systems administration in a production environment with increasing responsibility.
• Two years’ experience administering a large-scale Active Directory environment.
• Experience working with enterprise Identity Management products such as: Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager, Trident Identity Manager, or other Identity management systems.
• Experience with Azure Active Directory.
• Experience working with Active Directory Certificates Store.
• Experience working with Microsoft 365 license management.
• Experience working in a large environment with a distributed administration model.
• Experience managing and integrating various Office 365 services (Office 365 Pro Plus, Teams, Sharepoint, OneDrive, etc).
• Experience with ITIL or ITSM.
• Experience configuring and maintaining Microsoft Windows servers, including automation of common configuration and setup procedures.
• Experience providing high-availability services to enterprise clients.
• Experience working with Applications Administration principles, including systems automation, change management, capacity planning, documentation, etc.
• Experience leading technology implementation projects on an enterprise scale.
