University of Western Ontario Constructs ThreeC+ Engineering Facility

The University of Western Ontario is constructing the $51 million ThreeC+ facility in London, Ontario. Designed to enable students and faculty to connect, collaborate, and create, the four-story, 100,000-sf facility will provide interdisciplinary classrooms, dry research labs, team project rooms, design labs, and fabrication areas to support innovation in the fields of software engineering, sustainable infrastructure, and mechatronic systems. Designed by Perkins+Will and Cornerstone Architecture, the centerpiece of the building is an atrium conjoined to a large classroom by a skyfold door that can open to create a 4,500-sf exhibition space. LEED Platinum sustainable design certification will be sought for the project, which will feature optimal indoor air quality and highly efficient building systems. Construction began on the facility in November of 2016 and occupancy is expected in September of 2018.
