University of Reading Plans Health and Life Sciences Building

The University of Reading will begin construction in summer of 2017 on the £50 million Health and Life Sciences Building in the United Kingdom. Located on the Whiteknights campus in Reading, the four-story, 81,000-sf project will feature two floors dedicated to wet and dry research, as well as housing teaching labs, seminar rooms, classrooms, offices, and the Cole Museum of Zoology. Enabling the consolidation of the School of Biological Sciences in a single location, the collaborative facility will feature an instructional space capable of accommodating 280 students, making it one of the largest teaching labs in the nation. A bioresource unit (BRU) will support biomedical research on animals, including the development of treatments for epilepsy, heart disease, and obesity. Completion is expected in summer of 2019.
