Saint Louis University is constructing the $50 million Interdisciplinary Science & Engineering Building in St. Louis. Designed by Hastings+Chivetta with Research Facilities Design (RFD) as laboratory design consultant, the three-story, 90,000-sf facility will feature a full-height atrium, 10,000 sf of new research space, and active learning classrooms that can accommodate up to 210 students. The building will also provide formal and informal collaboration areas, a computational suite with data visualization capabilities, and teaching labs for programs in bioinformatics, biology, health sciences, biomedical engineering, chemistry, neuroscience, and computer science. Construction began on the project in November of 2018 and completion is expected in summer of 2020. LEED Silver certification will be sought for the sustainably designed facility, which is being built by BSI Constructors.
