The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is planning to begin construction in spring of 2021 on the first permanent building for the School of Medicine. Strategically sited in the Las Vegas Medical District, the 135,000-gsf facility will be developed by Nevada Health and Bioscience Asset Corporation through a public-private partnership. The project is funded by $155 million in philanthropic contributions.
Designed by TSK Architects to support a class size of 120 students, the flexible structure will be constructed to easily adapt to a class size of 180 students to accommodate future growth. The facility will include clinical skills training labs, simulation suites, anatomy and physiology labs, administrative offices, a forum, a café, a student lounge, and a learning resource center. Classrooms of various sizes will provide opportunities for problem-based learning as part UNLV's forward-thinking curriculum. Completion is expected by fall of 2022.
