The University of Georgia broke ground in November of 2021 on the $54.1 million Poultry Science Complex in Athens. Designed by Flad Architects, the 70,000-sf facility will accommodate the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences' programs in avian biology, animal health, poultry science, and biological science. The technology-rich structure will house BSL-2 research labs, tissue culture rooms, walk-in cold rooms, teaching labs, classrooms, demonstration areas, conference rooms, and offices for faculty and staff. Fostering collaboration with industry partners, the student-centered complex will support increased enrollment as well as aiding in the attraction and retention of world-class researchers. McCarthy Building Companies is the general contractor for the project, which is slated for occupancy in early 2024.
