Vice President, Science and Technology Lead

Michael is a Vice President at Stantec, a sector leader for Stantec’s Science & Technology Market Sector, and a regional office practice leader.  Throughout his 30+ year career, Michael has planned and designed projects involving research and instructional laboratories for academic, healthcare, and corporate owners throughout North America and in the Middle East including projects for Cornell, Corning, Carnegie Mellon, Harvard, McMaster, Penn State, Schlumberger, Stanford, and Yale.  He is nationally recognized as an authority on the architectural and technological intricacies of laboratory facilities programming, planning, and design.  He has regularly served as a facilitator for science facility planning workshops organized by Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL), an informal national alliance of individuals, institutions, and organizations committed to strengthening undergraduate science, mathematics, engineering, and technology education, and funded by the National Science Foundation. Michael is a regular speaker on science facility planning and design topics at Tradeline conferences.  Michael served on a subcommittee of the National Research Council and contributed to Laboratory Design, Construction, and Renovation - Participants, Process, and Product, which is a national standard for the process related to the design of research labs throughout the country.  He received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from Miami University.
