Speaker Profile: Lois Elizabeth Mate, AIA
Lois Mate is an Associate Principal and the co-Leader of Ennead’s Research Laboratory Center. In her over 30 years with the firm, she has been involved in the planning, programming, design, and delivery of a dozen major laboratory projects. Lois has applied her deep knowledge of laboratory and healthcare projects to a range of academic, institutional, and commercial laboratories around the country. Her project work is typified by complex programmatic requirements and site constraints. Many of them are in dense, urban locations. Her notable projects include New York Stem Cell Foundation Research Institute; Weill Cornell Medicine, Belfer Research Building; Weill Cornell Medicine, Weill Greenberg Center; New York University Langone Health, New Science Building, the University of Michigan, Biomedical Science Research Building, University of Oregon, Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact; and most recently the UC Santa Cruz Thimann Laboratories Interdisciplinary Instruction and Research Building. She brings specific experience in programming and planning academic laboratories with undefined user groups and multiple stakeholders. A leader in the firm, she has spearheaded Ennead’s focus on metrics, trends and innovation in both institutional and private sector research building and master planning projects.
