Murray State University Breaks Ground on Veterinary Sciences Building

Murray State University broke ground in April of 2026 on the $60 million Veterinary Sciences Building in Murray to address workforce shortages throughout Kentucky. Designed by Hafer, the 88,000-sf facility will house the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Hutson School of Agriculture’s programs in veterinary technology and pre-veterinary medicine. The one-story structure will be organized into three wings interconnected by support spaces.

University of Florida’s Whitney Lab Opens Marine Research Center and Sea Turtle Hospital

The University of Florida opened the Whitney Marine Research Center in April of 2026 in Marineland, Fla. Designed by Lord Aeck Sargent and TTV Architects, the $41.2 million facility more than doubles the available research space for the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience while expanding capacity for education and conservation efforts. The 38,000-sf building features 12 leading-edge labs, a dedicated microscopy area, aquaculture venues, and a maker space equipped with 3D printers and laser cutters.

Colorado State University Nears Completion of Veterinary Hospital and Education Complex

Colorado State University is approaching the completion of construction on the 420,000-sf Veterinary Hospital and Education Complex (VHEC) in Fort Collins. The $230 million redevelopment project was designed by Clark & Enersen to enable a dynamic pedagogy that focuses on team-based learning, hands-on training, and strategies for personal resilience. A 213,000-sf addition will house a new primary care clinic providing medical, dental, ophthalmological, and pharmacy services, as well as emergency, urgent, and critical care.

Clemson University Breaks Ground on Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine

Clemson University broke ground in November of 2024 on the Harvey S. Peeler Jr. College of Veterinary Medicine in Clemson, S.C. Addressing a critical shortage of veterinarians in the state and the nation, the $285 million project will enable a distributed pedagogical model that prepares students to go directly to local animal hospitals for training and clinical study. By leveraging partnerships with industry and existing regional assets, this strategy is expected to save the university more than $350 million in capital costs and $60 million in operational costs.
