Spelman College Opens Campbell Center for Innovation & the Arts

Spelman College opened the Mary Schmidt Campbell Center for Innovation & the Arts in April of 2025 in Atlanta. Studio Gang and Goode Van Slyke Architecture designed the $96 million project to advance STEM education and drive collaborative discovery at the intersection of technological development and creative expression. Representing the college's first new academic building in nearly 25 years, the 82,500-sf facility is strategically sited on the periphery of campus to foster engagement with a growing arts district.

University of Arizona Completes Gateway Building Construction

Arizona State University completed construction in January of 2025 on the $78 million University Gateway Building (UGB) in Tempe. Forging a vibrant link between the west campus entrance and the Mill Avenue district of downtown, the 128,000-sf structure integrates classroom, administrative, mixed-use, and retail space to meet educational needs while maximizing land use.

College of the Desert Begins Construction of Palm Springs Campus

Construction has begun on the College of the Desert's $268 million campus in Palm Springs, Calif. Designed by WRNS Studio, this regional hub for education and innovation will provide dry labs, maker spaces, and studios for architecture, recording, and film. With multiple buildings spanning 27 acres, the 175,000-sf complex features The Accelerator, a two-story structure accommodating programs in digital media and arts, healthcare, and architecture.

University of St. Thomas Opens STEAM Complex

The University of St. Thomas recently opened the $110 million Schoenecker Center in St. Paul, Minn. The 130,000-sf building was designed by RAMSA and BWBR Architects to foster interdisciplinary exchange by collocating STEAM programs in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. Offering five levels of modular, multipurpose spaces, this vibrant learning destination houses classrooms, studios, collaboration areas, and labs for biology, chemistry, physics, robotics, and engineering.
