Tiffani Howard, PhD
Tiffani Howard has served as the Program Director of Research Strategy and Operations for the Knight Cancer Institute for the past two years. In this role she developed innovative spatial plans which has deepened collaboration amongst wet and dry labs, she has aided in the recruitment of a senior leadership, and has been instrumental in orchestrating a groundbreaking sponsor driven clinical trial. She has also been a key contributor in developing the Knight’s Strategic Plan; a ten-year plan focused on a cultural shift to true team science and revolutionary collaborative behavior, where hierarchy is flattened and resources are shared.
Previously, Tiffani served as the Project Liaison for the design and construction of the Knight Cancer Research Building (KCRB), a 650-occupant cancer research facility. As a member of the Core Team, an alliance between representatives of OHSU, architects, and contractors, she was the primary decision maker on behalf of the Knight Cancer Institute and articulated the vision, driving design with particular insight into cultural aspirations and scientists’ needs. This project began in 2014 and was completed in the 2018, on time and on budget providing an environment where scientists are capable of pursuing the Knight mission, to end cancer as we know it.
Tiffani has a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from OHSU, and has 28 years of experience with research scientists. She is also the sole proprietor of a scientific illustrating business.
