Cleveland Clinic Florida opened the 107,000-sf Florida Research & Innovation Center in July of 2020 in Port St. Lucie. Accelerating the translation of medical discoveries into innovative therapeutics for clinical treatment, the facility will provide leading-edge laboratories for research programs in immuno-oncology and infectious diseases, such as Zika virus and SARS-CoV-2. The center includes BSL-3 biocontainment suites, administrative offices, meeting rooms, and an area for training programs.

Winstanley Enterprises Plans Bioscience Research Building in New Haven

Winstanley Enterprises is planning to build a $100 million bioscience research building in New Haven, Conn. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects, the 10-story, 500,000-sf facility will provide leasable laboratory and office environments for life science companies and academic institutions. Featuring a large public plaza, the project will include a conference center, a 50,000-sf business incubator, and a classroom for K-12 educational programs.

Fort Lewis College is planning to construct the $33 million Health Sciences Center in Durango, Colo. The 42,000-sf facility will provide classrooms and labs for programs in exercise science, nutrition, physical therapy, public health, and sports administration. The building will also accommodate faculty and staff offices, a women's varsity locker room, study spaces, and gathering areas. Groundbreaking is expected in late 2020.

Howard University is partnering with Adventist HealthCare to create a $450 million academic teaching hospital in Washington, D.C. Featuring a Level I trauma center, the 600,000-sf, 225-bed complex will offer state-of-the-art facilities for patient care and medical education. An adjacent building housing clinical offices will also be constructed. Completion is expected in 2025 or 2026.

Designed by HDR, the two-story facility will provide sophisticated wet labs, research offices, and labs for neuropsychology and kinesiology. Blinn College is planning to construct a $32 million academic facility on the RELLIS Campus in Brenham, Texas. Designed by Gensler, the Phase II Building will provide classrooms, faculty and administrative offices, and labs for programs in engineering and computer science. The three-story, 75,000-sf structure will also offer gathering and interaction areas, a student services center, a food vending court, and a large meeting room. Construction is slated to begin in February of 2021 with occupancy in fall of 2022.

Located in Clovis, the three-story building supports the school's innovative active-learning curriculum with three large technology-enabled classrooms that can accommodate small group learning as well as lecture-based instruction. UC Davis Health Breaks Ground on Tschannen Eye Institute

UC Davis Health, the academic medical center of the University of California, Davis, broke ground in late June of 2020 on the Ernest T. Tschannen Eye Institute. Located on the Sacramento campus, the 58,000-sf building will provide exceptional facilities for research, education, and patient care. The project, which is being constructed as an addition to the Ellison Ambulatory Care Center, includes the renovation of 17,500 sf of clinical space on the first floor of the existing structure. Occupancy is expected in 2022.

Standing 12 stories above grade with three underground levels, the facility will house the Australian Bragg Centre for Proton Therapy & Research and the SAiGEN Cancer Institute.

Designed by LS3P, the 180,000-sf structure will provide a consolidated home for the School of Nursing and allow for programmatic growth to support additional enrollment. The four-story structure will feature multiple simulation training environments including hospital rooms, patient exam rooms, labor and delivery suites, and home health settings such as mock apartments.
