GTE Internetworking plans to double the size of its new corporate complex being developed by National Development of New England at the MetroNorth Corporate Center in Woburn. July 2000 is the scheduled opening of the company's 235,000-sf facility there. A 250,000-sf second building is planned, and now a possible third building is under consideration.

GTE Internetworking is based in Burlington and provides Internet access and runs Websites for major corporations.

Simmons College has announced a three-year, $51 million expansion of its campus at Fenway. A new five-story, 60,000-sf academic building will house the graduate school of social work, new library, and technology resource center. The $21 million facility is scheduled for completion by fall 2002. The school's residence halls will also be upgraded.

Willis Eye Hospital plans to sell its existing hospital in Philadelphia's Center City to Thomas Jefferson University, then build a new $40 million hospital across the street in the Walnut Towers building. Outpatient ophthalmological care will be the specialty of the new facility.

University of the Arts has chosen Arena & Co. as general contractor and construciton manager for its new student residence hall. The dorm will accommodate 400 students.

Methodist Healthcare System (MHS) will renovate 60,000 sf of a 150,000-sf former hosppital building at the South Texas Medical Center to consolidate its administrative/support functions currently located in leased space in several buildings.

Sutton Macina Sutton Architecture & Interiors of San Antonio will assist with architecture and space planning for the $2 million project. Move-in is scheduled to begin in May or June 2000 and be completed by September.
