Toby Marlatt brings more than twenty-five years of experience in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, and strategic communications. As vice president for strategic initiatives and communications for the University of Wyoming Foundation, Marlatt has led initiatives that integrate storytelling, donor recognition, and visionary project planning into programs of lasting impact.

Marlatt’s background combines strategic vision with deep storytelling expertise. A former journalist, he has spent his career connecting donor impact to compelling human narratives, ensuring that recognition programs honor both legacy and community relevance. His leadership includes oversight of donor recognition strategies for major facilities, named spaces, and faculty positions, as well as high-visibility public announcements and physical recognition projects.

In his current role, Marlatt advises university leaders and boards on strategic initiatives, fundraising campaigns, and institutional messaging. He manages high-level planning for transformative projects, including creating more than 150 major and principal gift proposals annually and crafting the case for support for multimillion-dollar capital campaigns.

Marlatt also brings significant marketing and brand management expertise. He leads integrated marketing strategies and directs institutional and foundation communications. His work demonstrates a consistent ability to elevate programs through strategic storytelling, broad-based engagement, and compelling visual and experiential design.
