Paul Daniel, IES, LEED AP, is Senior Professional Associate and Lighting Design Section Manager for the Northeast Mid-Atlantic region at HDR. He is an architectural and landscape lighting design expert in healthcare, science and educational facilities with 30 years of experience. His award-winning portfolio features a diversity of project types including healthcare, corporate interiors, academic institutions, research facilities, civic buildings, hospitality, and residential.
Paul received his Master of Arts in Lighting Design from Parsons School of Design and his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University. Paul has a passion for health centric lighting design. He is committed to sustainable, energy-efficient lighting strategies and the integration of emerging technologies. He led multiple extra-large IPD projects and worked on more than 200 projects in multiple countries including USA, Germany, Canada, England, Germany, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China and Korea.
Paul creates artful and visually impactful lighting design with attention to detail, client satisfaction and sustainability. He challenges architectural constraints with creative solutions in lighting and luminaire design for interior and exterior environments. He manages projects to reach wholesome integrated design that is creative, functional, energy efficient, and cost effective. He has spoken at multiple lighting conferences, and written articles published in multiple trade journals. He served as a juror for IES illumination awards and multiple lighting student competitions.
