Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America has selected Albert Kahn Associates (AKA), in collaboration with local consultant Hermosillo y Asociados Arquitectos S.C. (HyAA) to provide full architectural and engineering services for a new greenfield facility for the painting of Tacoma truck beds. The project is comprised primarily of a paint shop with welding and assembly capabilities. Additional support spaces include a utility building, liquid tank farm, domestic/industrial wastewater treatment facility, container yard, product shipping yard, cafeteria and administrative offices. When working at full capacity, the 360,000-sf plant will produce 20,000 units per year. Construction is expected to reach completion in 2003.
