The Naval Training Center Foundation will utilize a $300,000 grant from California's Office of Historic Preservation to renovate Building 5 of the Liberty Station base conversion project at the former Point Loma Naval Training Center. Building 5, a 12,658-sf, two-story facility, was constructed in 1923 and is one of 26 historical buildings slated for renovation on the site. The Liberty Station civic, arts and cultural development, housing office, studio, gallery, museum, educational, performance, retail, and restaurant space, is expected to open in 2005.
