NOAA To Begin Construction on Suitland Federal Center Offices

Published 12/5/2002

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is planning to begin construction on its new 208,000-sf offices in Washington's Suitland Federal Center. Housing millions of dollars of technical equipment, the facility will feature a 140,000-sf "green" roof that functions as a self-sustained bed for local plant life. Located on 15 acres, the offices will be built into the natural 20-ft slope of the site. The facility, designed by a partnership of Einhorn Yafee Prescott and Morphosis,  will accommodate approximately 550 NOAA employees. The construction manager is 3D/International.
