General Services Administration Builds San Francisco Office

Published 5/28/2002

The General Services Administration has awarded lead contractor Dick Corp. of Pittsburgh and local joint partner Nibbi Bros. the $141.5-million contract to build a 600,000-sf office building in San Francisco. Construction of the 18-story facility will begin this summer and is slated for completion in 2005. Sited on city-donated land, the new office will consolidate multiple GSA leases and will house departments currently located in four separate buildings: Labor, Agriculture, Social Security, and Health and Human Services. Energy usage in the facility will be reduced 50 percent by "green" building features. Included in the project is a day-care center and a large plaza with a cafeteria open to the public.
