Published 8/31/2002

Synygy, an employee benefits compensation programming and software company, has commissioned Syska Hennessy Group to design new mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems as well as the acoustics, audiovisual, telecommunications, and lighting for a new corporate headquarters. The 163,500-sf tenant fit-out projects is being undertaken in the historically significant Chester Station in Chester, Pa. The building is one of the best-preserved and most monumental early power plants in the U.S. dating back to 1917. The main space, Turbine Hall, measures 220 feet by 90 feet with an 85-foot tall ceiling and will be used to house a data center, servery, training rooms, and an 800-person theater. Approximately one thousand data points will be needed in order to accommodate Synygy's computer-centric telecommunications needs. Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2002 with completion slated for July 2003. The project architects are Blackney Hayes Architects and The Hillier Group.
