Vantage Breaks Ground on Data Center Campus in Texas

Published 1/6/2026

Vantage Data Centers is developing the Frontier mega-campus in Shackleford County, Texas, to meet growing demand for leading-edge artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. Sited on 1,200 acres, the $25 billion complex will supply 1.4GW of critical IT capacity to support global hyperscale customers. Ten one-story data centers will span a total of 3.7 million sf and accommodate ultra-high-density racks of over 250kW, utilizing combined air-cooling and liquid-to-liquid cooling to enable these next-generation GPU loads. Each structure will provide three meet-me rooms (MMRs). Class A building amenities will include customizable offices, conference venues, and break areas.

Aligning with Vantage’s “sustainable by design” blueprint, the dynamic hub will be optimized to preserve resources in the community. A sophisticated closed-loop chiller system will save billions of gallons of water annually, and Computer Room Air Handling (CRAH) units will be housed in two galleries on opposite sides of each data module to allow for highly efficient airflow distribution. LEED certification is being pursued for the development.

As part of Oracle and OpenAI’s Stargate expansion, the campus will drive significant economic growth in the region, creating more than 5,000 jobs during construction and after opening. Multiple diverse power feeds and N+1 redundancies across all mechanical and electrical systems will ensure continuous and reliable operations. An official groundbreaking ceremony was held in December of 2025, and general contractor Kiewit is scheduled to deliver the first building in the second half of 2026.
