Macon-Bibb County Government will begin construction in summer of 2026 on the new Macon Arena in Georgia. Designed by PBK Architects, this vibrant destination will further elevate the region’s growing lineup of elite venues and set a new benchmark for large-scale civic development in the Southeast. The facility will host a range of exciting sporting events including basketball, minor league hockey, and high school tournaments, as well as concerts, conferences, trade shows, and more. Replacing the Macon Coliseum, the project will catalyze the rejuvenation of the downtown and riverfront areas to a create a thriving cultural environment. Funding for the approximately $450 million structure will come from the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by voters, with the expectation that it will generate business opportunities and produce revenue that will help maintain low taxes for citizens.

Spanning over 200,000 sf, the reconfigurable arena will have the flexibility to accommodate between 7,000 and 12,000 seats, with a bowl seating capacity of approximately 8,500 in a 180-degree configuration for concerts. Guests will enjoy access to premium amenities including appealing concessions, luxury suites, loge boxes, and club rooms. Back-of-house and support spaces will enable the center to function as a state-of-the-art civic facility that offers performers, event planners, and organizations an exceptional experience.

Envisioned as a paramount location for sports, entertainment, and community gatherings, this dynamic hub will serve as a powerful economic and tourism engine. MFA Program Management is the owner’s representative for the project, which will be delivered by Barton Malow and Sheridan Construction. Completion is slated for summer of 2028.
