Dixie Regional Medical Center Initiates Major Campus Expansion
Dixie Regional Medical Center is initiating a $300 million expansion of its healthcare campus in St. George, Utah. Doubling the size of Dixie's existing hospital facilities, the 500,000-sf project will enable important medical services to be relocated and consolidated. The three-building expansion will include a new cancer center with a precision medicine department to provide personalized genomic therapies. Completion is expected in late 2018.
Columbia University Medical Center Dedicates Vagelos Education Center
Columbia University Medical Center dedicated the $70 million Vagelos Education Center in June of 2016 in New York City. Designed by Diller, Scofidio + Renfro in collaboration with executive architect Gensler, the 14-story, 100,000-sf facility provides technology-rich classrooms, an advanced simulation center, collaborative learning areas, a 275-seat auditorium, a café, and a student commons. LEED Gold certification will be sought for the project, which features a transparent design with abundant natural light.
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare Builds Mustian Surgical Center
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare began building the $250-million Mustian Surgical Center in June of 2016 in Tallahassee, Fla. The five-story, 340,000-sf facility will provide 72 intensive care beds and 28 surgical suites. The project will enable existing space at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital to be redeveloped, creating a new genetics lab and expanded laboratory and imaging facilities. Completion is expected in early 2019.
College of St. Scholastica Opens Health Science Center
The College of St. Scholastica opened the $17.1 million Health Science Pavilion in August of 2015 in Duluth, Minn. Located in the BlueStone business park, the three-story, 45,000-sf project provides labs and classrooms for occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant programs. Designed by HGA of Minneapolis and built by McGough Construction of St. Paul, the pavilion features an interdisciplinary health clinic to support experiential learning. Ground was broken on the project in August of 2015.
University of Colorado Health Plans Greeley Hospital
University of Colorado Health is planning to build a $185 million medical center on 22 acres in Greeley. Construction will begin in early 2017 on the $135 million UCHealth Greeley Hospital, a 153,000-sf facility providing a cardiology, surgery, emergency, and labor and delivery services. Occupancy is expected in late 2018. The project also includes the creation of the $50 million UCHealth Greeley Health Center, an outpatient medical office offering 192 exams rooms as well as laboratory and imaging suites.
