Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Expands and Renovates New Brunswick Campus
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital will begin construction in summer of 2016 on a 100,000-sf project in New Brunswick. Two new facilities totaling 50,000 sf will be constructed and 50,000 sf in the existing hospital will undergo renovation. The expansion will allow more space for emergency and intensive care as well as accommodating preoperative services. Completion is expected by summer of 2018. The project is part of a master facilities plan to strategically increase capacity on the academic medical center campus.
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Plans Surgical Pavilion
MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is planning to break ground in January of 2018 on a $567 million expansion and renovation of its Washington campus. A new six-story, 477,000-sf pavilion will provide 156 private inpatient rooms, advanced imaging suites, two floors of operating rooms, and an expanded emergency department. Existing hospital facilities will also undergo renovation.
University of Lincoln Constructs Engineering and Health Science Facilities
The University of Lincoln began construction in March of 2016 on the $23 million Isaac Newton Building in the United Kingdom. The project includes the renovation of the existing engineering hub and construction of an 81,000-sf addition. The completed facility will feature a Faraday cage, a semi-anechoic chamber, and a 500-seat lecture hall. Occupancy is expected in early 2017. The University of Lincoln is also in the process of designing the $18 million, 60,000-sf Sarah Swift Building to house the departments of Psychology and Health & Social Care.
Bayhealth Breaks Ground on Milford Hospital Campus
Bayhealth will break ground in late May of 2016 on a $275 million hospital campus in Milford, Del. Providing 128 private beds, the project includes a six-story inpatient building, a 30-bay emergency department with behavioral health rooms, six surgical suites, two procedure rooms, and ambulatory care clinics. Illuminated by abundant natural light, the facility is designed to optimize the efficiency of staff operations as well as patient accessibility and navigation. Occupancy is expected by January of 2019.
Indiana State University Builds College of Health and Human Services
Indiana State University will begin construction in summer of 2016 on a $64 million renovation and expansion of the existing Arena Building to create a new home for the College of Health and Human Services in Terre Haute. The project includes reconfiguration of interior space, significant upgrades to building systems and infrastructure, and construction of an 87,000-sf addition. Completion is expected in early 2019.
