Fakeeh Academic Medical Centre Plans Dubai Campus
Fakeeh Academic Medical Center has awarded Habtoor Leighton Group a $127 million contract to construct the first phase of its teaching hospital campus in Dubai. The facility will accommodate five centers of excellence in the areas of cardiology, pulmonary medicine, orthopedics, endocrinology and diabetes, and emergency medicine. The 150-bed integrated hospital will feature an automated medication dispensing system and robotic surgery technologies. Completion is expected in October of 2017.
Indiana University School of Medicine Breaks Ground on Evansville Facility
Indiana University School of Medicine broke ground in October of 2015 on a $61.2 million facility in Evansville. The 145,000-gsf building is being created in collaboration with the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville, and will possibly also provide space for Ivy Tech Community College. The project will include classrooms, simulation space, and laboratories for teaching and research. Completion is expected in late 2017.
University of Texas at Dallas Breaks Ground on Brain Performance Institute
The University of Texas at Dallas broke ground in October of 2015 on the $33 million Brain Performance Institute. Designed by Page Southerland Page, the three-story, 62,000-sf facility will provide clinical areas, brain training rooms, advanced imaging suites, a virtual reality lab, classrooms, and event space. The Brain Performance Institute is affiliated with UT’s Center for BrainHealth and the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. Occupancy is expected in spring of 2017.
OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center Builds Rockford Pavilion
OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center is building an $85 million addition to its campus in Rockford, Ill. Providing 78 private inpatient rooms, the four-story, 144,247-sf pavilion will physically connect to the existing hospital where semi-private rooms will be renovated, creating a total of 190 private rooms. General contractor Ringland-Johnson Construction broke ground on the facility in June of 2015 and completion is expected in early 2018.
Trinity Health Plans Mercy Hospital Renovation
Trinity Health is planning a $271 million renovation and expansion of Mercy Hospital in Muskegon, Mich. The project includes construction of a new tower and consolidation of existing departments including obstetrics, behavioral health, and emergency services at the Mercy campus. The completed hospital will support the delivery of integrated patient care in a facility designed as a model of modern healthcare operations.
