Biotrial Constructs Clinical Pharmacology Unit

Biotrial is constructing the Clinical Pharmacology Unit in Newark, N.J. Located adjacent to Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in the University Heights Science Park, the 60,000-sf facility will support early development clinical studies in association with University Hospital. The project was designed by Francis Cauffman and is being built by Joseph A. Natoli Construction. Occupancy is expected in mid-2015.

Wake Forest Baptist Constructs Medical Education Facility

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center will begin construction in early 2015 on a $50 million instructional facility for the School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C. Located in the Wake Forest Innovation Quarter, the 168,000-sf building is designed to support one of the most advanced medical school curriculums in the country and will include technology-rich clinical simulation suites, small group learning spaces, an anatomy lab, offices, and meeting rooms. Occupancy is expected in July of 2016. The project developer is Wexford Science + Technology, LLC.

Missouri State University Builds Clinical Health Science Center

Missouri State University is building the $14.1 million O’Reilly Clinical Health Science Center in Springfield. The 55,000-sf facility will provide medical training labs, mannequin simulation suites, classrooms, offices, group study areas, and a multidisciplinary health clinic. The general contractor for the project is DeWitt & Associates. Completion is expected in fall of 2015.

Collin College Builds Israel Health Sciences Center

Collin College is building the 125,000-sf Cary A. Israel Health Sciences Center on the Central Park Campus in McKinney, Texas. Designed by PBK Architects, the three-story facility features an advanced clinical simulation center, an 150-seat lecture hall, classrooms, offices, and medical training labs for programs in nursing, emergency services, surgical technology, and respiratory care. Built by Pogue Construction at a cost of $44 million, the project includes a central plant and a 25,000-sf conference center.

UCSF Medical Center Completes Mission Bay Hospital Complex

The University of California, San Francisco Medical Center will open its $1.5 billion hospital complex at Mission Bay in February of 2015. The project comprises the Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco, the Betty Irene Moore Women’s Hospital, and the Bakar Cancer Hospital. The 289-bed complex is designed to support the integration of biomedical research with patient care and features advanced imaging suites, a helipad, and a fleet of robotic couriers to deliver supplies, meals, and medications.
