Tufts University Constructs Joyce Cummings Center
Tufts University is building the $90 million Joyce Cummings Center in Medford, Mass. Providing classrooms, auditoria, research labs, and collaboration spaces, the 148,000-gsf facility will accommodate programs in computer science, economics, and mathematics. Offering six stories and a basement level, the building will house the Data Intensive Studies Center, the Fletcher Executive Education and Global Master of Arts program, and the Tufts Gordon Institute.
Idaho National Lab Opens Computing Research Facilities
Idaho National Laboratory opened two new computing research facilities in Idaho Falls in October of 2019. Designed by Flad Architects, the $90 million project will accommodate joint research with Idaho State University, Boise State University, and the University of Idaho.
Janssen Sciences Ireland Constructs Ringaskiddy Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant
Janssen Sciences Ireland, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, began constructing a $355 million, 206,000-sf pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in October of 2017 in Ringaskiddy. Existing facilities accommodating administration, logistics, and warehousing will also be expanded. Completion is expected in late 2019.
Rowan University and Rutgers University Open Joint Health Sciences Center
Rowan University and Rutgers University opened the $70 million Joint Health Sciences Center in October of 2019 in Camden, N.J. Designed by HOK to accommodate multiple institutions, the $70 million project provides leading-edge labs and learning environments to empower joint research initiatives and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.
Seattle Children’s Research Institute Opens Building Cure
Seattle Children’s Research Institute opened the $300 million Building Cure in October of 2019. The 540,000-sf translational research facility provides advanced laboratories for the development of innovative treatments for pediatric cancer, sickle cell anemia, ADHD, and diabetes. One entire floor of the building houses the Cure Factory, a GMP cell-therapy manufacturing center for the creation of personalized medicine solutions.
