Milwaukee Tool Company Plans Brookfield R&D Facility

Milwaukee Tool Company will begin construction in the third quarter of 2018 on a $32 million research and development facility in Brookfield, Wis. Located on the firm's global headquarters campus, the 114,500-sf project will accommodate engineering, R&D, and advanced manufacturing operations. The facility will increase the total footprint of the Brookfield site to approximately 504,500 sf, enabling Milwaukee Tool to hire an additional 350 employees. Completion is expected in late 2019.

University of Nevada, Reno Begins Construction on Pennington Engineering Building

The University of Nevada, Reno began construction in July of 2018 on the $92 million William N. Pennington Engineering Building. Designed by H+K Architects, the four-story, 110,000-sf facility will provide teaching and research labs for the departments of chemical and materials engineering, civil and environmental engineering, electrical and biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science.

Pfizer Builds Modular Aseptic Processing Facility

Pfizer is planning to construct a 400,000-sf modular aseptic processing facility on its existing campus in Portage, Mich. Part of a $1.1 billion investment in Kalamazoo County over the next six years, the $465 million center will be one of the world’s most advanced facilities for the manufacture of sterile injectables.

Georgia Cyber Center Opens Hull McKnight Building

The Georgia Cyber Center opened the Hull McKnight Building in July of 2018. Located on the campus of Augusta University, the facility accommodates a cyber range, a 340-seat auditorium, offices for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Cyber Crime Unit, multi-institutional classrooms and computer labs, a business incubator, and demonstration space to showcase current research. A second structure, the Shaffer MacCartney Building, is slated for completion in December of 2018, creating a 332,000-sf complex that represents a total investment of $100 million.

BAE Systems Expands in Huntsville

BAE Systems is initiating a $45 million expansion of its facilities in Huntsville, Ala. Strategically sited to foster closer connections with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Department of Defense, the 83,000-sf project will provide engineering development suites, laboratories, manufacturing space, and offices to support new programs and existing businesses, including the design, development, and manufacturing of precision munitions and aircraft survivability technologies.
