University of New Mexico Breaks Ground on College of Nursing and Public Heath Excellence Building
The University of New Mexico broke ground in August of 2022 on the $43.3 million College of Nursing and Public Heath Excellence Building in Albuquerque. Designed by Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, the 93,740-gsf facility will provide sophisticated classrooms and teaching labs where the next generation of caregivers and public health professionals can engage in collaborative learning, training, and discovery.
University of Washington and Gonzaga University Open Health Partnership Building
The University of Washington and Gonzaga University opened the $60 million Health Partnership Building in Spokane in August of 2022. Located at the gateway to the Gonzaga campus, the interdisciplinary center collocates students and faculty from both institutions to create new opportunities for learning and discovery. The 90,000-sf facility offers interactive classrooms, teaching and research labs, faculty offices, a fitness hub, and a state-of-the-art anatomy suite.
University of Cambridge Opens Heart and Lung Research Institute
The University of Cambridge opened the Heart and Lung Research Institute in the United Kingdom in July of 2022. Created in partnership with the Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the £60 million facility features state-of-the-art labs for cellular, molecular, and translational research. Accommodating 380 academic and industry scientists, the 86,000-sf project houses a high-throughput characterization suite, a genetics and functional genomic center, the relocated Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit, and the 10-bed Clinical Research Facility.
University of Miami Health System Breaks Ground on Transformational Cancer Research Building
The University of Miami Health System broke ground in June of 2022 on the $250 million Transformational Cancer Research Building in Miami. Part of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, the 244,000-sf structure will provide the Miller School of Medicine with advanced laboratories where multidisciplinary teams will discover new modalities for cancer treatment and prevention.
Cleveland Clinic Builds Translational Research Facilities
Cleveland Clinic will begin construction in mid-2022 on the Neurological Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. Spanning over a million square feet, the translational research building will integrate inpatient and outpatient care facilities with world-class biomedical laboratories. Designed by Stantec and Hopkins Architects, the collaborative structure will foster interaction between medical professionals and scientists to accelerate the discovery of new therapies and attract the next generation of caregivers.
