The Abbey Group Plans Boston Bioscience Campus
The Abbey Group is planning to construct Exchange South End, a 1.6 million-sf bioscience research campus located on the site of the Boston Flower Exchange. Designed by Stantec, the mixed-use development will provide approximately 841,000 sf of research space and 640,000 of office space. Rexnord Industries Plans Aerospace Headquarters and Manufacturing Center
Rexnord Industries is planning to construct a 248,000-sf building in Downers Grove, Ill. The project will accommodate manufacturing operations as well as providing a headquarters facility for Rexnord’s aerospace division. Completion is expected by 2019. Based in Milwaukee, Rexnord is comprised of two strategic platforms, Process & Motion Control and Water Management. The Process & Motion Control platform designs, manufactures, and services sophisticated mechanical components used in complex systems.
Banner Engineering Breaks Ground on R&D Facility
Banner Engineering, a leading provider of technology for industrial automation, broke ground in August of 2017 on a 50,000-sf research and development building at the company’s global headquarters in Minneapolis. Designed by HCM Architects to support the creation of smart sensors, the addition will provide labs, training spaces, and offices to accommodate over 225 new employees. Kraus Anderson Construction Company is the general contractor for the project, which is slated for completion in summer of 2018.
Micron Opens Semiconductor R&D Facility in Boise
Micron Technology opened a $200 million semiconductor research and development facility in Boise in August of 2017. The four-story, 100,000-sf building will feature engineering laboratories with sophisticated manufacturing systems for the production of advanced memory chip technologies. Construction began on the project in October of 2015. Micron is also planning to build a three-story, 225,000-sf office facility on its Boise campus.
3M Plans Austin Campus
3M Co. is planning to construct a 272,000-sf campus in Austin, Texas. Designed by STG Design and developed by Trammell Crow, the state-of-the-art facility will replace operations currently located in northeast Austin. Sited in the Parmer business park, the project will accommodate approximately 800 employees engaged in R&D, supply chain management, and marketing. Construction will begin on the facility by late 2017 with completion expected by April of 2019.
