Brigham and Women's Hospital Plans Boston Expansion
Brigham and Women's Hospital is planning a $450 million research and clinical building in Boston. The medical foci of the 360,000-sf facility will be immunology, neuroscience, genomics, and regenerative medicine. Completion is expected by 2016.
Research, Innovation, Learning and Development Centre Planned in Exeter
Construction will begin in April of 2012 on the Research, Innovation, Learning and Development Centre in Exeter in the United Kingdom. The medical research facility represents a partnership of the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, the University of Exeter, and Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry. Designed by Devereux Architects, the four-story building will include a central hub and several wings.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Creates School of Freshwater Sciences
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee initiated a $53 million renovation and expansion in December of 2011 to create a new facility for the School of Freshwater Sciences. Construction will begin by May of 2012 and reach completion by November of 2013. The existing Great Lakes WATER Institute will be remodeled and expanded to house ecological research laboratories and offices.
InVivo Therapeutics Creates Cambridge Research Headquarters
InVivo Therapeutics has entered into a multi-year lease for 21,000 sf at One Kendall Square in Cambridge, Mass. The new facility will serve as the company's fully integrated global corporate headquarters. Bringing all of InVivo's business units under one roof, the facility will house corporate offices, chemistry and biology labs, s surgeon training suite, a rodent vivarium, and a cGMP cleanroom. Occupancy is expected in early 2012.
Princeton University Opens High-Performance Research Computing Center
Princeton University opened the High Performance Computing Center on its Forrestal Campus in Plainsboro in November of 2011. The two-story, 46,765-sf building provides a computing area, a data center, mechanical and electrical support space, and offices. The facility also houses the Terrascale Infrastructure for Groundbreaking Research in Engineering and Science (TIGRESS) Center. The project team included architect Gensler of San Francisco, engineer AKF Group of Boston, and project manager CS Technology.
