Drexel University and Tower Health Break Ground on College of Medicine

Drexel University and Tower Health broke ground in June of 2019 on the 150,000-sf Drexel University College of Medicine at Tower Health in Wyomissing, Pa. The four-year regional campus will offer advanced simulation training suites, traditional classrooms, flexible learning environments, lecture halls, anatomy labs, and an information commons. Designed by The S/L/A/M Collaborative, the facility will support optimal student health and wellbeing with a fitness center, indoor and outdoor recreation areas, lounges, a game room, and a café.

Northwestern University Opens Biomedical Research Center

Northwestern University opened the $560 million Louis A. Simpson and Kimberly K. Querrey Biomedical Research Center in Chicago in June of 2019. Designed by Perkins+Will, the 12-story, 625,000-sf facility provides the Feinberg School of Medicine with integrated laboratory neighborhoods for the study of cancer, heart disease, and neurodegenerative disorders.

The Wistar Institute and University Place Associates Plan Philadelphia Research and Discovery Hub

The Wistar Institute is partnering with University Place Associates to construct a 240,000-sf life science discovery hub in the University City district of Philadelphia. Designed to accelerate innovation by providing shared resources and critical infrastructure, the collaborative project will provide leasable laboratories and offices for biotech firms, research companies, and academic institutions.

Hackensack Meridian Health Opens Center for Discovery and Innovation

Hackensack Meridian Health opened the Center for Discovery and Innovation in May of 2019 in Nutley, N.J. Located on the ON3 campus adjacent to Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University, the 250,000-sf translational research facility will accelerate the creation of innovative therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, diabetes, dementia, antibiotic-resistant infections, and autoimmune disorders. The center houses the Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the Institute for Multiple Myeloma, and the Institute for Cancer and Infectious Disease.

Orange Coast College Breaks Ground on Kinesiology & Athletics Complex

Orange Coast College broke ground on the $36 million Kinesiology and Athletics Complex in May of 2019 in Costa Mesa, Calif. Designed by Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, the three-building, 88,000-sf project will house division offices, athletic training and adaptive physical education rooms, student support spaces, locker rooms, a 65-meter competition pool, a 25-meter instructional pool, and a covered 450-person bleacher.
