MSU College of Nursing Constructs Research and Education Facility
Michigan State University’s College of Nursing will break ground in summer of 2010 on the Bott Building for Nursing Education and Research in East Lansing. Supported by $7.45 million in stimulus funding, the three-story, $17.6 million facility will support collaborative biomedical research and teaching. Occupancy is expected by early 2012.
University of Warwick Builds Physics and Chemistry Research Laboratory
The University of Warwick will build the £17 million Physics and Chemistry Research Laboratory in Coventry in the United Kingdom. Slated for completion in autumn of 2011, the 4,795-sm facility will feature an advanced microscopy suite and the Warwick Centre for Analytical Science. BAM Construction of Balsall Common will design and construct the building.
Midwest Research Institute Achieves LEED Gold
Midwest Research Institute has attained LEED Gold sustainable design certification for the renovation of its headquarters in Kansas City, Mo. The 80,000-sf project included renovation of two wings in the existing 250,000-sf facility. The renovation was designed by PGAV Architects with J.E. Dunn Construction Group as general contractor.
UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School Receives Stimulus Funding for Lab Renovations
The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-New Jersey Medical School was awarded $15 million by the National Institutes of Health in March of 2010 to support laboratory renovations. The award will enable UMDNJ-NJMS to conduct advanced biomedical research in updated lab facilities.
Med Fusion Offers Integrated Translational Research Services
Med Fusion, a partnership of Baylor Health Care System, Texas Oncology, Pathologists Biomedical Laboratories, and US Oncology, will begin offering integrated translational research services in spring of 2010. The company is headquartered in Dallas and has leased a 172,000-sf facility in Lewisville. Med Fusion will provide integrated pharmaceutical development and clinical trial services.
