Scripps Occupies Jupiter Campus
Scripps Research Institute will celebrate the opening of the three-building Scripps Florida campus in Jupiter on February 26, 2009. The 350,000-sf project is sited on 40 acres adjoining Florida Atlantic University and houses biomedical research laboratories, technology space, and offices.
Binghamton University Constructs Science Building
Binghamton University will begin construction in early 2009 on $36 million science building in Vestal, N.Y. The 65,000-sf Science V will house research laboratories and instructional space for the departments of psychology and biological sciences. Completion is slated for spring of 2011. Binghamton University will also begin building a $66 million, two-story engineering building at the Innovative Technologies Complex in February of 2009.
SRI Plans Center for Advanced Drug Research
SRI International will open the $16.7 million Center for Advanced Drug Research in Harrisonburg, Va., in August of 2009. Sited on 25 acres in the Rockingham Center for Research and Technology business park, the 40,000-sf building is being constructed by Nielsen Builders. The three-story facility will house offices and laboratories for pharmaceutical research.
Hamilton Health Sciences Plans Research Facility
Hamilton Health Sciences is planning to construct the $90 million David Braley Cardiac, Vascular and Stroke Research Institute. Located on the campus of Hamilton General Hospital in Hamilton, ON, the six-story, 165,000-sf facility will house the Population Health Research Institute and the Fraser Mustard Thrombosis Research Institute. Designed to foster interaction and collaboration, the project will include laboratories, offices, meeting rooms, and breakout spaces. Construction will begin in 2010.
Pahang Bioscience Builds Stem Cell Research Facility
Pahang Bioscience is partnering with BCRO Stem Cell Transplantation to create a RM300 million stem cell research center in Temerloh, Malaysia. The facility will include an animal research laboratory, stem cell culture facilities, medical treatment areas, and a closed-colony rabbit farm.
