Travelocity.com Opens Call Center in Southwest Virginia
Fort Worth, Texas-based Travelocity.com is opening a $2.27-million call center in Clinton, Va. Vacated by Nexus Communications, the facility will host employee training for the 500 available positions in June and open in July as Travelocity's third call center.
Sun Microsystems Plans Campus in Dublin, Calif.
Sun Microsystems has plans for a new six-building office campus at the Dublin Transit Center. Sun purchased 12 acres from Alameda County for its 750,000-sf complex, which will include the buildings, parking structures, and groundfloor retail.
Overland Data Builds New San Diego Facility
Overland Data Inc. broke ground in March 2001 at the San Diego Spectrum development for a new 158,000-sf building to accommodate production, engineering, operations, marketing and sales for the company. Completion is anticipated in spring 2002. Overland Data manufactures automated tape backup equipment for computer systems.
Verisign Considers Dulles Station Office Space
Verisign is considering 600,00-sf of new office space in the 1.5 million-sf Dulles Station project in Herndon. The California-based Internet service company will be consolidating its four Herndon offices and 1,000 employees in the new space. Verisign may obtain between 500,000-sf and 700,000-sf of the Dulles Station complex developed by Crimson Partners. Groundbreaking on the first 176,000-sf building is scheduled for April, with construction completed in one year.
Lucent Expands in North Austin
The microelectronics division of Lucent Technologies Inc. has leased 62,000 sf in North Austin. Occupying a majority of the available 76,000 sf in Building 6 at Braker Center IV, the facility will provide space for projected growth and additional personnel in the network processors microelectronics group. Based in Murray Hill, N.J., Lucent's Austin space will include large hardware and software labs, a fitness center, game room, and a cafeteria.
