Texas State University Opens Health Professions Building

Texas State University opened the $67.5 million Willow Hall in May of 2018 in Round Rock. Accommodating health professions programs in physical therapy, respiratory care, and communication disorders, the 107,708-sf facility provides seminar rooms, simulation training suites, treatment clinics, a sleep center, a gross anatomy lab, a research suite, and faculty and administrative offices. Construction began on the project in September of 2016.

Deaconess Health System Opens Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital

Deaconess Health System opened the $135 million Orthopedic and Neuroscience Hospital in May of 2018 in Newburgh, Ind. Designed by Hafer Architects, the six-story facility features a multidisciplinary ortho-neuro surgical clinic and an urgent orthopedic care center. Located at Gateway Hospital, the facility links two existing towers via an atrium and features patient rooms with floor-to-ceiling glass. The general contractor for the project was Barton Malow.

Kewaunee Scientific and Rainlight Launch CODA Modular Lab Bench System

Kewaunee Scientific has partnered with international design studio Rainlight to create the CODA laboratory furniture benching system. CODA’s modular design offers adjustable height surfaces, moveable shelving, and integrated lighting, with companion tables available to complement the main system. With spans of up to 10 feet long between structural supports, CODA’s bench enables greater flexibility for lab layout.

University of Plymouth Opens Derriford Research Facility

The University of Plymouth opened the £17 million Derriford Research Facility in May of 2018 in the United Kingdom. Sited adjacent to the Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry at Plymouth Science Park, the 25,000-sf building is the headquarters of the Institute of Translational and Stratified Medicine.

University of Houston Opens Health 2

The University of Houston opened the $145 million Health 2 facility in May of 2018. Designed by Shepley Bulfinch, the nine-story, 300,000-sf project is the university's second health and biosciences building and houses the College of Pharmacy, the Department of Health and Human Performance, the Student Health Services Clinic, and the Primary Care and Behavior Clinics.
