Emory University to House Southeastern Center for Emerging Biologic Threats

Emory University will house the new Southeastern Center for Emerging Biologic Threats, a collaboration of state and federal agencies and top researchers working together to combat bioterrorism. Partners in the center include Emory University's Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center, the Medical College of Georgia, Morehouse School of Medicine, Georgia Tech, and the University of Georgia. Lockheed Martin Builds Mississippi Space & Technology Center

The $30-million Lockheed Martin Mississippi Space & Technology Center is being developed by a partnership of Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin, NASA, and the State of Mississippi. Located at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Center in south Mississippi, the 220,000-sf facility will create an estimated 270 jobs. The project is being funded by $30 million in state and county funds and an additional $30 million from Lockheed Martin.

NCSU Builds for Nanotechnology on Centennial Campus

North Carolina State University will begin construction on the Partners III building in October 2002. The $24-million, 80,000-sf facility will house nanotechnology laboratory and research facilities and is slated for completion in July 2004.

NCSU To Build Veterinary Medicine Research Addition

North Carolina State University (NCSU) is planning a $31-million, 103,000-sf research addition to the School of Veterinary Medicine. Designed by Flad & Associates, the four-story building will house research labs, offices, and conference rooms. A new subsurface infrastructure tunnel will provide utilities to the facility. The addition is expected to open in October 2004. The School of Veterinary Medicine is located on the Centennial Biomedical Campus, now part of NCSU's Centennial Campus.
