Keck Medicine of USC Opens Norris Healthcare Center
Keck Medicine of USC opened the Norris Healthcare Center in January of 2018 in Los Angeles. Located on USC's Health Sciences Campus adjacent to the Comprehensive Cancer Center, the seven-story, 116,000-sf outpatient facility features a patient-centric design for the integrated delivery of multidisciplinary ambulatory care. All women’s specialty care services have been grouped together on a single floor, and urology and urologic oncology are collocated on another level of the building.
UTHealth Plans Continuum of Care Campus for Behavioral Health
UTHealth will break ground in early 2019 on the $125 million Continuum of Care Campus for Behavioral Health in Houston. Designed to deliver a transformative model of psychiatric care, the 200,000-sf project will provide approximately 300 beds for acute, subacute, and residential patients. Completion is expected in fall of 2021. UTHealth is also known as the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Wuhan Institute of Virology Begins BSL-4 Laboratory Operations
The Wuhan Institute of Virology began operations in its BSL-4 laboratories in January of 2018. Supporting research on infectious diseases and select agents, the biocontainment facility will enable scientists to develop innovative strategies for the detection and mitigation of pathogenic threats. Construction began on the facility in 2011 with trial operations beginning in 2015.
Olympic College Opens Arts and Health Occupations Facility
Olympic College opened the $46.5 million College Instruction Center in January of 2018 in Bremerton, Wash. Designed by Schacht Aslani Architects to support programs in health sciences and the arts, the 70,000-sf facility features a 276-seat theater with movable walls that can accommodate lectures, performances, and events.
D'Youville College Plans Health Professions Hub
D'Youville College is planning to build a $20 million health professions hub in Buffalo, N.Y. The three-story, 46,000-sf facility will provide a community clinic, classrooms, a virtual learning center, conference rooms, and a two-story, 200-seat amphitheater. Supporting the delivery of interdisciplinary, team-based care, the project will be the first clinic in the nation to include all the health professions in a single location.
